8 FPS is incredible!  As a photographer you really can capture every moment, never missing a single second of the action.  The main drawback for shooting 8 FPS is that it really eats up your memory card, and it can also be grueling during post to go through every single photo, when you'll only keep about 5% of the hundreds, possibly thousands you shoot.  But what the hey, digital is "free," and one of its major advantages is the fact that we don't have a set number of shots for each session like you do with film.  You may be thinking, time isn't free, but for me, I would rather have too many shots than miss that one shot that perfectly captures an awesome moment.

ONO ISLAND TRIP

Last week I accompanied my wife and her family to Ono Island in Orange Beach, Alabama (literally less than a block from the Florida state line).  We went tubing behind the boat, and I got some great shots of people flying through the air and wiping out on the water. In this case the 8 FPS allowed me to capture moments with incredible clarity and vibrance, so much so that when I look back at the photos I'm immediately taken back to those amazing wipe outs and incredible feats of agility.

Below are a few of my favorites – Check out my brother-in-law's massive wipeout immediately below!
