Super Bowl XLVII

Posted by on Feb 7, 2013 in Featured, Photowalks, Sports | 0 comments

This past weekend New Orleans was electrified. With the Super Bowl in town the city was full of Ravens Fans, 49er Fans, football fans, locals (EVERYONE was downtown). There were people everywhere. One of the coolest places I saw was the Jax Brewery parking lot where ESPN had rented the entire parking lot for two weeks (for $1M according to one of the ESPN security people) and setup stages all over. Above: ESPN Stage   Above: Main ESPN Stage On Friday my wife and I went downtown first to the NFL Experience then to Woldenberg Park (“Super Bowl Boulevard”) and then around town.   NFL Experience At the Convention Center downtown the NFL setup the “NFL Experience” where fans can get a feel of what NFL is all about. There were passing games, kicking games, catching games, running games… all sorts of games. There were celebrities around, NFL Players, autograph signings, Hall of Fame exhibit, officiating exhibit, even the Lombardi trophy was on display.   Above: Miss Alabama – Katherine Webb, also QB AJ McCarron's Girlfriend   Above: Katherine Webb & Alabama QB AJ McCarron   Above: Ravens WR & Super Bowl XLVII Champ Torrey Smith   Above: Fun kicking field goals   Above: Fun kicking field goals   Above: NFL Hall of Fame...

Posted by on Dec 7, 2012 in Gear, iPad, Review, Tech Friday | 0 comments

Every year for 7 years now Scott Kelby has released his "Annual Awesome Holiday Gear Guide". His guide always has great buys for any photographer in the family from expensive buys to very affordable buys. His two stipulations for the guide is: 1. Uses the product himself 2. Should you Watermark?

Should you watermark your photos? And is it “professional” using a watermark? Before you can answer either of those questions you have to ask yourself another question: Why are you watermarking?   Let’s go with the first answer: Watermarking to “protect” your images from copyright infringement online. You could use the biggest most elaborate watermark that prevents anyone from ever stealing your photo.     But then again it is protected only because the picture becomes almost unusable. And...

Barber Vintage Fest

This past weekend I went to Birmingham for the 8th Annual Barber Vintage Fest at Barber Motorsports Park. It was the second time I had been to the park. I went back in April for the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama. It was as beautiful as ever and we enjoyed some truly wonderful weather. I went up early for the MotoGiro South event. I drove the chase truck behind all of the vintage motorcycle riders. It was a beautiful...

Saints vs Redskins

Posted by on Oct 2, 2012 in Featured, Photo Shoots, Sports | 0 comments

The New Orleans Saints have not had a great start. In fact they have had a terrible start at 0-4! At least I got to attend the Saints vs Redskins game and take some shots of the game. Being that our seats are about the 7th row, its almost like being on the field. Not really.. but it's close enough to get a few good shots. So I "snuck" my 70-200mm into the game (It's a 1/2" longer than...

My first Photoshop World

Posted by on Sep 11, 2012 in Featured, Photowalks, Travel | 0 comments

I spent the last week in Las Vegas to attend NAPP's Photoshop World (also celebrated my anniversary while there). The conference didn't start till Wednesday but on Tuesday I went on a pre-conference photowalk with Erik Valind. Erik is a super nice guy and also a great photographer so it was really an honor to have him lead the photowalk.   Here are a few shots from our walk: Above: Aria Hotel and Casino       Above: Paris...
