James John Audubon Bridge Visit

A few weeks ago I got to visit the Huey P Long Bridge's sister project, the completely new John James Audubon Bridge in New Roads, LA. The bridge really is pristine and incredibly beautiful! When I first saw it as I came around the turn of the bridge, I couldn't stop myself from emitting some "wowsers…oooos….ahhs". It is a cable stayed bridge with its two main towers reaching 500ft.
I took a 5 minute elevator ride inside one of the towers (there are elevator shafts inside each side of the tower). Once I stepped out onto the top of the tower, it somehow got even better. You can see for literally miles and miles. It was incredibly exhilarating looking down the river and seeing how far down it was and knowing that we were supported by a hollow tower made of concrete and resteel (rebar).
